About Haiki

A singer-songwriter, using the guitar to express a rootsy, soulful style. Haiki is from Ethiopia and has had lengthy spells living in London, Nottingham and Bahrain. The cultural and musical experiences absorbed from her home country and living abroad, combined with the influences great classic artists, inspired her to pick up a guitar and compose and perform her own material.​

Inspiration

Haiki’s laid back sound is a blend of soul, jazz and blues. She takes inspiration from a myriad of classic artists including Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, D’angelo, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Bill Withers, Sade, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Etta James, John Lee Hooker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Feist, Burt Bacharach, Bob Dylan, Eryka Badu.
